Holimesy Aluminum Holding Furnace
ENERGY EFFICIENT
The Lindberg/MPH Holimesy furnace design incorporates the most revolutionary
concept of insulation in both the metal containment area and the roof
(or element chamber area) in a completely enclosed unit. The result is
the most energy-efficient aluminum holding furnace available. Typical
energy costs are reduced by 80-90% over older furnace styles. Tests have
shown an average Lindberg/MPH Holimesy furnace in production used 5 KW/hr.
for a cost of .25 per hour!
LOW METAL LOSS
The Lindberg/MPH Holimesy furnace is totally enclosed, which, along
with uniform operating temperatures and special ceramic lining plates
almost completely eliminates oxide and sludge formation in the bath.
Therefore, little or no metal loss and maximum metal quality.
EASE OF MAINTENANCE
Since the metal losses are so low and oxide buildup on the heating chamber
walls is almost non-existent, it is only necessary to clean the main
chambers once a week. This task generally takes about 10 minutes. Heating
elements are long lasting but in the event of the need to replace one,
it is a relatively simple low-cost operation.
IMPROVED WORKING CONDITIONS
In most aluminum operations, the furnace shell temperature does not
exceed 90° F. The only molten metal surface area exposed to the atmosphere
is the ladling well, keeping radiated heat to a minimum. Operating conditions
are much cooler than with other types of furnaces.
NON-WETTING REFRACTORY
Special ceramic plates, non-wettable to aluminum, are employed in the
metal contact areas. These highly insulating plates, joined by a patented
interlocking construction, are backed up with other highly insulating
materials to form a tight, enclosed unit with minimal heat loss.
